Hospitalist physician to cover shifts on Medical / Surgical floor and Intensive Care Unit.
Schedule :
24 Hour Shifts
Occasional outpatient Rural Health Clinic coverage
Shifts are 24 hours long and while it is unusual to be actively involved in patient care during the entire shift, it is theoretically possible. Telephone call overnight is expected, and return to the hospital may be necessary for new ICU admissions, admits from a busy ED, and decompensating patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Comprehensive care of all adult hospital patients through duration of each shift in collaboration with APP.
Documentation of all patient care.
Respond and lead rapid response and code blue teams during shift (in conjunction w / ED physician).
Supervise and mentor APP during shifts, including providing them backup during times when the workload becomes excessive.
Interpretation of all patient lab, radiographic, other studies.
Full engagement in multidisciplinary rounds daily while on shift, with respectful attempt at timeliness.
Engage professionally as team member in delivery of care to hospital patients.
Comprehensive use of HER.
Participate in quality improvement efforts as supported by leadership.
Attend and engage in the acute care committee.
Participate and provide input in ad hoc committee efforts as requested by acute services department chair.
Timely, professional, response to ED for assistance, consultation, or admission.
Consultation in infusion department and cardiac rehab for acute or semi-acute issues that arise.
Supervise cardiac stress testing of patients scheduled for that day.
Primary care of ICU patients.
Work with outside consultants in care of inpatients and / or transfer of patients as medically appropriate.
Responsible for new admissions and discharges every shift.
Co-management of all surgical patients is expected unless specifically absolved by the covering surgeon.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required) :
Graduate of an accredited medical school with MD or DO degree.
Board certified in internal medicine, family medicine, or hospital medicine.
