Job Summary:
LJ Electrical Company is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical BIM (Building Information Modeling) Drafter/Coordinator to join our team. This role focuses on creating, managing, and coordinating 3D electrical models and drawings using BIM software. The successful candidate will collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, superintendents and other disciplines to ensure accurate design integration, clash detection, and efficient project execution within the electrical scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain precise 2D and 3D BIM models for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) models to ensure system compatibility.
- Perform clash detection within the BIM environment and propose solutions to resolve conflicts specific to electrical installations.
- Generate detailed construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications from BIM models for electrical components and systems.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with company standards, National Electrical Code (NEC), and client requirements.
- Assist in creating electrical schedules, material takeoffs, and other project documentation.
- Provide technical support to project teams and participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders.
- Maintain organized BIM project files and update models as designs evolve throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Drafting, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience as a BIM Drafter or Coordinator, preferably with a focus on electrical systems.
- Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional project teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Revit or other BIM-related software (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional).
- Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) is a plus.
- Familiarity with prefabrication processes or modular construction techniques.
Work Environment: This role is based in the office at your designated location (either Kinston or Raleigh). However, occasional travel may be necessary depending on the location of our projects. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility required to meet project deadlines or attend important meetings.
