Full-time position in Florida (reporting office locations to be determined) for a candidate possessing an understanding of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) construction contract documents, and CEI consultant processes and procedures. Primary focus is management of FDOT and local government agency construction contracts for transportation projects, including but not limited to roadway, highway, bridges, and other structures. Projects may involve utilities, stormwater pollution prevention, temporary traffic control, lighting, signalization, drainage, asphalt and concrete pavement, ITS, earthwork, excavation, and other improvements.
General Responsibilities:
· Read and Interpret contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, permits and other contract documents for roadway, utility and drainage construction.
· Exercise initiative and independent judgement in daily assignments and responsibilities.
· Review project inspection activities with contractors; escalate issues to supervisor in a timely manner when needed to gain resolution.
· Receive general instructions regarding assignments from the Sr. Project Engineer
· Observes construction work performed by others, ensuring accuracy with plans and specifications
· Review Contractor Pay applications with contractor to verify billing quantities and provide recommendations to the Project Manager/Project Engineer for further processing.
· Communicates through verbal and written means as needed for job performance
· Participates in project-level meetings as required
· Meets with client as needed
· Documents work activities
· Provides status reports to PM(s) on routine basis
· Storm water Inspections for general compliance with SWPPP
· Review Contractor MOT and record conditions for plan compliance.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
· High school diploma
· CTQP qualified and certified in Florida MOT/TTC, FDEP SWPPP and others as required for FDOT projects, or be able to obtain them.
Required Experience:
· Strong communication skills
· Ability to build strong relationships.
· Two (2) years of related experience, one (1) year of which involved construction of major road or bridge structures.
· Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
· Ability to perform mathematical calculations, and preferably have a working knowledge of Word and Excel
· Knowledge of, and interpretation of construction specifications and construction standards
Physical Requirements:
· Driving to and from various locations
· Intermittent standing, bending, sitting, walking, squatting, climbing, kneeling and lifting.
· Working near equipment and machinery, traversing uneven ground, climbing ladders, exposure to dust, noise, weather, and potential work at heights
