Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning and Development Specialist to join our team at LJA, a leading multidisciplinary, full-service engineering consultancy firm based in Houston, TX with offices throughout the U.S. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating training programs, coaching team members, and contributing to the overall growth and development of our employee owners. You will work closely with teams, management, and sector leaders to ensure learning initiatives are aligned with company goals and employee needs.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a background in designing and delivering content for adult learners, and a passion for engaging others in their professional growth. You will play a critical role in shaping a culture of continuous learning and development that supports both individual career advancement and organizational success.
General Responsibilities:
- Training Facilitation: Lead engaging and impactful training sessions for teams across the organization. Ensure that the learning experiences are tailored to various levels of experience, learning styles, and team needs.
- Coaching & Mentorship: Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to employees to help them reach their personal and professional development goals. Support leadership in building high-performance teams through coaching initiatives.
- Content Creation & Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver high-quality training content and learning materials tailored to adult learners. Ensure materials are engaging, interactive, and effective in facilitating learning.
- Instructional Design: Collaborate with leadership and HR to identify training gaps, design appropriate programs, and ensure alignment with company objectives and the professional growth of employees.
- Evaluation & Improvement: Continuously assess the effectiveness of learning programs and make data-driven improvements. Collect feedback, analyze learning outcomes, and report on progress to key stakeholders.
- Promote a Learning Culture: Foster a growth mindset and a culture of continuous learning within the organization. Encourage employees to take initiative in their personal and professional development.
- Analytics: Evaluates feedback and creates long-term curriculum update plans and assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and derive actionable insights from data and feedback.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Human Resources, Education or related field)
Required Experience:
- 7 years of experience in learning and development.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering adult learning content, with an understanding of adult learning principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- Ability to coach and mentor employees at various levels of experience.
- Familiarity with eLearning platforms and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus.
- Creative thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
