Summary: Experienced CAD tech performing technical drafting support for assigned projects independently with working knowledge of engineering technology in a specific field.
General Responsibilities:
- Creates CAD drawings for engineering projects
- Creates and modifies maps for special assignments
- Creates plan and profile sheets plus CAD file exhibits
- Completes redline markups
- Performs work as assigned from sketches, verbal instructions, and notes
- Establishes and maintains schedules and offers progress reports
- Maintains current knowledge of design and drafting procedures in specialty field
- Other assigned duties as required
- Work with project teams to successfully complete project deliverables starting from the planning phase all the way to the construction administration phase;
- Perform work based on the Project Manager's requirements and have the ability to follow guidelines;
- Prepare construction drawings for a residential development projects by preparing master plans and plan and profile sheets using Civil 3D and ability to use all the design tools within the Civil 3D software package to design the storm sewer and utilities associated with the plan and profile sheets.
- Prepare a subdivision layout with a grading plan based on FHA and/or local requirements.
- Prepare boundary, topographic and tree surveys and descriptions working under the supervision of the Project Land Surveyor.
- Prepare commercial site plans based on boundary, topo survey and zoning information obtained from the Municode website under the direction of a Project Manager.
- Conduct effective communication with project teams and management.
Required Education/Licenses:
- Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience.
Required Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Technical knowledge of CAD operations and engineering specialty discipline
- Effective communication skills both oral and written
- Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
- Strong technical background in drainage, roadway and utility design as they apply to single family residential, multifamily and commercial projects
- The candidate should have some familiarity with the permitting requirements of the local municipalities, state and federal agencies
- Full understanding of all phases of the design process with the ability to prepare plan and profile sheets using Civil 3D, prepare grading plans, utility plans and ability to prepare subdivision layouts or commercial layouts based on general input from the Project Manager.
