Summary: The Environmental Technician will work with an experienced team of environmental consultants in LJA’s Stormwater Division on projects for assisting municipalities and industrial facilities in complying with state/federal water quality regulations.
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct construction site inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
- Conduct municipal facility inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
- Conduct outfall monitoring to identify illicit discharges
- Data entry associated with field inspections
- Assist in the development of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWP3s)
- Conduct representative monitoring events
- Communicate through verbal and written means as required for job performance
- Provide status reports to project manager on routine basis
- Other assigned duties as required
Required Education/Licenses:
- Minimum of Associate Degree in Environmental Studies
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, or similar field preferred
Required Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational skills; attention to detail in recording field data
- Must have a clear driving record, a DMV check will be conducted
- Ability to represent LJA and its clients in a professional manner at all times
- Basic computer skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with environmental regulatory compliance and/or field inspections preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to drive long distances, to and from job sites within Texas and Louisiana. Locations may include, but are not limited to: Houston, Austin, Freeport, Conroe, and Beaumont.
- Inspection sites will have uneven ground and will require walking/standing for long periods of time; possible climbing.
- Work in inclement weather (hot/cold/rain)
