Summary: The candidate will be involved with rail design, calculations, plan preparation, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
General Responsibilities:
- Design of horizontal and vertical alignments for rail tracks
- Design of drainage systems to support rail projects
- Develop plan set suitable for construction
- Obtains project information from other LJA personnel as directed.
- Uses templates to prepare draft memos and reports for an experienced engineer to use for re-write.
- Perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company
- Receive regular training to learn the design of freight rail projects
- Potential for field construction management and inspection activities
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education/Licenses:
- Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering is required
- Eligible to take the PE Exam within the next 3 years
Required Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Rail Experience a plus
- Microstation
