Title: Sr. Accountant – Construction and Inventory

General Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the project manager to develop a detailed, cost-effective budgets for the projects.
- Performing accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing invoices, estimating cash flow, and maintaining purchase orders.
- Responsible for tracking and managing the company’s inventory by maintaining inventory records, conducting physical inventory counts, and reconciling inventory records to physical counts
- Ensure that inventory levels are accurate, properly classified and valued, and recorded in accordance with GAAP
- Analyzing all transactions and working unforeseen costs into the project budget.
- Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.
- Preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects' financial data and information.
- Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review.
- Researching market trends and projecting construction-related price increases/decreases.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Keeping abreast with both the construction and accounting industry.
- Intercompany accounting
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales tax, use tax, and income tax
- Prepare, review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations as required timely and accurately
- Enter and maintain the fixed asset listing for the subsidiary
- Assist with ensuring compliance with internal control guidelines
- Assist with external audit requests
- Assist other accounting functions on an as needed
- Assist management with ad-hoc requests, including special projects
Required Education:
- BBA or BS in Accounting
Required Experience:
- 5-7 years of professional experience with 3 years of in Construction / Inventory Accounting
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles and procedures
- Strong understanding of WIP, job costing and revenue recognition
- Proficiency in construction accounting/ERP software and MS Office suite of products
- Experience with multi-company processing preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment; ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines
