What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dishwasher/ Pharmacy Lab Clerk with Potential for Advancement! position at Lloyd Central Pharmacy?
Thanks for your interest in the position! Read on to learn more about the job and our business!
What is this job?
This job has traditional back of house duties similar to a restaurant kitchen. The majority of your time will be spent supporting lab activities, such as washing dishes and cleaning lab equipment, doing laundry, taking out trash, cleaning the restrooms, office spaces and lab, and restocking supplies. If you like moving and doing physical activities with your hands, this is a great job for you. If you are looking for a computer job, this will not be a great fit for you, unfortunately.
What is the opportunity for advancement?
You may be promoted to a job as a laboratory technician, which would involve you being trained in special techniques and to use special equipment to make medications for patients. We have a pretty cool laboratory, and there are lots of opportunities as a technician to learn new skills. At our pharmacy, we promote our laboratory clerks into roles as laboratory technicians when we have openings. And we will train you in everything you need to know to be successful.
If you have ever been curious about working in a laboratory or in a pharmacy, this laboratory clerk position is a great entry level position to get you started on this career path.
So you could go straight from being a clerk to being a pharmacy technician?
Yes! We do not require you to attend a school in order to be a tech, so going this route saves you $15-20k in tuition, plus you are paid while you are being trained. We will help you get licensed as a pharmacy technician, and train you in different positions in our lab. Success in this job depends on your interest in learning and growth. Most clerks advance to a pharmacy technician position within 3-9 months.
What is this job similar to?
If you have worked as a dishwasher in a restaurant, back of house, house cleaner or maid, you will have no problem with this job. You don't need this kind of experience to apply, but these are the most similar.
What are the hours?
This is a full time, 40 hour a week, 8 hour a day, Monday through Friday position. The pharmacy is open weekdays from 9am to 7pm and is staffed from 7am-7:15pm. We request open availability between the hours of 7 am and 7:15 pm. When you advance to a tech position, your schedule will change, but remain within the 7am-7pm time frame.
We try hard to keep your schedule as consistent and predictable as possible.
What kind of benefits do you offer?
- Our benefit package includes:
- A consistent schedule from week to week
- Medical, dental and vision insurance

How physically demanding is this job?
This is a very physical job! You will be standing a lot and moving dishes and small equipment around to clean them. If you are looking for a desk job, this is not going to be a good fit.
Physical demands in order to successfully perform this position include:
- Stand for long periods of the day
- Lift up to 15 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Use hands or arms to operate tools and equipment
- Kneel, crouch or use ladders on occasion
- Wear an N95 mask, gloves and other personal protective equipment all of most of the day

How do you encourage a positive culture at your company?

We work to find ways to bring out the best in our staff, to recognize their efforts and strengths, and support their growth. We value positive, respectful communication and work to resolve issues and concerns. Because we are relatively small and independently owned, there’s very little bureaucracy.
What kind of experience do I need?
We care about your potential more than your experience. We look for people who are interested in working hard, learning new skills, doing a good job, who are passionate about helping people and doing things the right way. Going the extra mile and supporting your team is essential to all roles in the pharmacy.
