Reports To: Construction Superintendent/Project Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Intern will participate in various hands-on practical learning experiences both in the office and on physical job sites. As an intern, the individual will spend time in the Expeditor, Assistant Project Manager, and Assistant Construction Superintendent roles to gain exposure to cost estimating, planning and scheduling, materials procurement, cost control, time and quality management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with and support the Project Managers and Construction Superintendents as required
- Assist in the servicing of equipment and tools
- Keeping the construction sites clean, inside and outside
- Support the coordination and implementation of project site construction, organization, and safety standard
- Attend and participate in weekly construction meetings at project site locations
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and OSHA safety standards, practices, and codes
- Organize, track, and maintain project related files, drawings, materials, and correspondence
- Deliver accurate and timely project status updates throughout all project phases
- Regularly provide project reports, documentation, technical assistance, support, and collaboration
- Track project expenditures and cost accounting, including accuracy, approvals, and payment reporting
- Must be fluent with all Microsoft Office Products
- Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma and enrolled in technical school; significant general construction and carpentry experience preferred.
AND/OR
One year certificate from college or technical school; or 6-12 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write and present reports, proposals, applications and contracts. Ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The job is performed in an office setting with occasional travel to properties and/or projects via airplane, bus, or vehicle. The job is performed outdoors and indoors on construction sites with occasional time spent in an office setting.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Must be aware and conform to all safety requirements when in the building, operating motor vehicles, or in the field performing duties for the company.
