The SBA Senior Underwriter role is responsible for conducting strong credit analysis including gathering, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information on existing and prospective SBA 7a/504/ITL customers. This position of Senior SBA Underwriter will communicate with current and potential customers to obtain information needed for loan requests in conjunction with the Loan Officer. The underwriter prepares and assists in presenting credit packages on full compliance of SBA SOP to Loan Officers and committees for use in making lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.

This position of Senior SBA Underwriter will communicate with current and potential customers to obtain information needed for loan requests in conjunction with the Loan Officer. What you'll do:
- Overseeing the SBA credit process and analysis for each assigned credit request from application through approval in compliance with SBA SOP. Processing credit references.
- Spreading financial statements within system and generating relevant reports for analysis and loan presentation.
- Analyzing the credit and collateral aspects of SBA 7a, 504 and ITL loans both secured and unsecured. Underwriting, analyzing and preparing presentations for loan requests. Effectively communicating with Loan Officers and customers regarding credit matters.
- Makes recommendations on loan decisions to SBA Credit Manager, Loan Officers and executive management.
- Assisting in the monitoring of loans to ensure proper maintenance with respect to items such as updated financial information and compliance. Preparing of annual loan reviews as needed.
- Assisting management with all tasks related to the Credit Department, performing various special projects, and providing general support to the operational areas within the Credit Union.
- Five years to eight years of credit underwriting and SBA 7a underwriting experience required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance or a related field of study.
- Credit training or equivalent classes offered by 3rd party providers (NAGGL, RMA, ABA, banking associations, etc.). Strong understanding of SBA SOP eligibility requirements. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, core databases, credit analysis software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to the position.
- Knowledgeable in financial institution operating policies and procedures and banking/credit union regulations state and federal.
