Position Summary
Work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist as dictated by the Ohio revised code. Be able to work in the following practice areas: medical/surgical, outpatient, and behavioral health Be able to treat individuals through the life span. This professional person will be licensed by the State of Ohio and have completed an accredited training program to meet all educational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review Occupational Therapist’s plan of care and patient's medical records to determine occupational therapy treatment required.
- Confer with the patient, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan, implement and assess the intervention program.
- Provide information to the patient about the proposed interventions, its material risks and expected benefits and any reasonable alternatives.
- Administer treatment and therapeutic interventions, following the plan of care, and according to state laws, national associations, and applicable policies and procedures.
- Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer.
- Direct and supervise supportive personnel, delegating specific tasks to them and establishing channels of communication.
- Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Communicate to the Occupational Therapist when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
- Attend and participate in interdisciplinary and departmental meetings.
- Educate Occupational Therapy students as well as those in other health professions.
- Ensure personal performance reflects the LMHS mission, vision and standards of CARE.
Requirements
- Licensed by the State of Ohio.
- Completed an accredited training program to meet all educational requirements.
- Orient to department and follow attendance, maintain patient safety, confidentiality, dress code, work schedule, and communication skills.
- Follow policies and procedures.
- Ensure personal performance reflects the mission, vision, standards of behavior and the service goals.
