Position Summary
Under assessment and supervision of the Registered Nurse and according to established policies and procedures performs patient care activities to assist healthcare providers in performing various technical and clerical procedures in the Endoscopy/Diagnostic Services Department. Job requires the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide age related care from adolescents through geriatric population. Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively interact with hospital staff, offices, patients, families and guests. Accountable to the patient and family for care provided, and to the patient care manager for the totality of work performance. Meets all standards and requirements of the LMH universal job description.
Responsibilities
- Accurately obtain and record patient height/weight and vital signs
- Safely lift, transfer and transport patients
- Document and report pertinent information regarding patient’s condition
- Maintain and stock adequate supplies on hand, and check outdates
- Appropriately collect, label and transport blood and other laboratory specimens
- Collect, perform, and document urine and glucometer tests and quality controls associated
- Appropriately communicates with all team members, patients, and family
- Answers phones and directs calls appropriately
- Administers non medicated enemas as per policy
- Assists physicians and nursing staff as directed within scope of practice
- Assure equipment for provision of patient care is available and in working condition (pumps, monitors, crash cart, etc.)
- Appropriate documentation in electronic medical record
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Able to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Maintain phlebotomist certification.
- Understand new technology quickly.
- Maintain certification in CPR and Basic Arrhythmia.
- Work independently.
