Position Summary
A clinical competent registered professional nurse who delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation in the Labor & Delivery area according to policies and procedures. Prescribes, delegates and coordinates the nursing care provided to patients throughout the health system. Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others and health care team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Job requires knowledge, skill and ability to provide care for neo-natal, adult and geriatric patient population.
Responsibilities
- Document/Communicate pertinent information regarding patient condition.
- Stabilization of newborns.
- Obtain and maintain competence in role of surgical circulator and 1st assist or scrub positions
- Obtain and maintain competence in role of surgical circulator and 1st assist or scrub positions L&D daily shift checks
- L&D daily shift checks
- Fetal monitor strip interpretation.
- Maintain knowledge for modified Maternal Child cross training.
- Appropriately manage antepartum, intrapartum & postpartum patients.
- Prepare, assist and recover patients through surgical procedures.
- Accountable to the patient and family for care provided and to the assigned patient care manager for the totality of work performance.
Requirements
- Current R.N. licensure for Ohio and maintain.
- Current CPR card and maintain.
- Maintain valid BLS certification. (CPR)
- Obtain and maintain ACLS certification.
- Obtain/maintain ECG rhythm recognition.
- Formulate nursing care plans.
- Provide direction and supervision to LPN's, POCT's and other ancillary staff
- Accurately transcribe physician orders into EPIC system
- Work independently.
- Obtain NRP certification within 6 mo. of hire and maintain certification thereafter.
- Utilize Hospital information system and EMR
