Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled Space Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO. The Space Systems Engineer supports United States Space Force (USSF), United States Space Command (USSPACECOM), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and/or other space domain customers with their modeling, simulation, and analysis requirements, as well as provides technical knowledge to support studies, algorithm development, and other technical products and efforts as tasked. Occasional travel is expected. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

As a Systems Engineer, support the Space Market's program portfolio by providing systems engineering-based solutions to our clients' problem sets. You will accomplish this by learning about and using LMI's RAPTR modeling, simulation, and analysis capability and LMI's LIGER GenAI solution, and how we currently leverage these to meet our clients' requirements. This may include activities supporting other LMI Markets (e.g., Defense, Homeland Security, Intel, etc.). As you are learning about and using these tools, we will embed you in multiple ongoing efforts, exposing you to our program / project portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Support Government customers in a technical capacity for planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of satellite system development and acquisition studies that advance USSF, USSPACECOM, NRO, and/or other space related customer-defined space architectures.
  • Serve as senior technical advisor to Government customer assisting in developing and reviewing annual organizational technical work plans and director's intent.
  • Operate as an individual contributor and collaborate with a team of high-performing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Operations Research Analysts, and software developers that directly support the Government through lifecycle systems engineering and management processes to deliver critical space capabilities.
  • Provide oversight of acquisitions, technologies, and studies with specific focus on the system engineering processes to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission needs/requirements.
  • Organize and lead efforts across multiple simultaneous studies and/or tasked efforts.
  • Frequently interact and develop productive relationships with program managers, SETAs, FFRDCs, and external stakeholders.
  • Review Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables to ensure content, technical accuracy, and sufficiency of design details to meet program requirements.
  • Support risk management processes and methods for identifying, assessing, and adjudicating program risk; Conduct analysis to identify program risk areas and recommend/implement mitigation approaches.
  • Develop documents and briefings to communicate work status, briefs to government and industry as required.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 12 years of professional experience or master's degree in a STEM field with 10 years of professional experience.
  • Significant background in systems engineering, satellite systems & subsystems, and program acquisition.
  • Space domain experience and understanding in multiple areas of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, rendezvous and proximity operations; satellite communications; missile warning/missile defense; space-based positioning, navigation and timing; remote sensing; environmental monitoring; command and control; battle management; multi-domain effects; and space domain awareness.
  • Able to work collaboratively across disciplines in a fast paced, dynamic, and small team environment.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, verbal and written.

Target salary range: $131,733 - $227,848
