The company supports world-class operations at Spanish Peaks Mountain Club and Moonlight Basin and oversees real estate activities at Spanish Peaks, Moonlight Basin, Crazy Mountain Ranch, Big Sky Town Center, and other projects in the Big Sky region.
Position Summary:
At Crazy Mountain Ranch, The Equipment Technician reports to the Director of Golf Course and Grounds/ Equipment Manager and assists in the maintenance and repair of CMR fleet vehicles and golf course equipment. The position will also include working in the maintenance shop as well as out on the golf course performing various maintenance tasks associated with its maintenance and care. The purpose of the Equipment Technician is to perform routine maintenance work under the guidance of the Equipment Manager in a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for the CMR vehicle fleet and golf course equipment. This program includes the repair of failing vehicles and equipment, recording parts and labor needed to maintain them, and the routine maintenance associated with preventative maintenance. Additionally, there will be set-up of golf course equipment. The Equipment Technician places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
Job Duties:
- Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various fleet vehicles and golf course maintenance equipment: diesel, gasoline, and electric powered vehicles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used for utility work.
- Records labor and materials used during all maintenance and repair.
- Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services and inspects equipment prior to use.
- Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various types of mowing equipment.
- Monitors equipment and vehicle fuel, oil and fluid levels during maintenance inspections.
- Operates equipment on the golf course when needed.
- Will be involved in winter support tasks including, but not limited to snow removal and vehicle maintenance.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.

- Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses.
- Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair.
- Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment as well as automotive vehicle repair and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
- Ability to move heavy objects. (Up to 70 pounds.)
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively as well as understand and follow both oral and written directions.
- Mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools.
- Assisting in an effective, daily inspection of golf course maintenance equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhering to the proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds and other fluids.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions on the golf course.
- Instruct equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
- Establish and implement a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate equipment, tools, vehicles etc.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, all rules and regulations relating to chemical and fertilizer application, storage and disposal, employee safety, public safety, etc.
- Maintain necessary inventories, purchase necessary items through the purchase order system and complete all necessary forms and coding processes.

- Performs other related duties as required and assigned by Director of Golf Course and Grounds.
- Responsible for various tasks during winter months including property snow removal and other Club assistance as directed by Director of Golf Course and Grounds.

Competencies:
- Working knowledge of the maintenance practices of golf course tees, fairways, greens along with experience and understanding of a high-level golf course maintenance operations. Posses an understanding of basic automotive maintenance, service and repairs.
- Experience working on small engines and mowing type equipment while being proficient at operating various types of equipment.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications
Qualifications:
- Mechanical experience and equipment operation background.
- Experience working on small engines, mowing type equipment and automotive along with their operation.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Possess a high-level of written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
