Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Summer Music Camp Teacher to lead K-5 students in a fun and educational environment. The teacher will implement engaging music lessons, foster a love for music, and encourage teamwork and creativity among students. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching young children and a strong background in music education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Instruction:
Deliver dynamic music lessons that are age-appropriate for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Lessons will include basic music theory, rhythm exercises, instrumental exploration, and group exporation and curriculum extensions.
- Creative Activities:
Develop and lead creative activities that encourage musical expression, including arts and crafts related to music, movement-based activities, and musical games.
- Student Engagement:
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and sharing their musical ideas. Adapt lessons and teaching styles to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Classroom Management:
Maintain a well-organized and safe classroom environment. Handle classroom discipline with positive reinforcement strategies.
- Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other camp staff to coordinate events, exploration exercises, and daily schedules. Collaborate with other teachers to create cross-disciplinary experiences.
- Communication with Parents:
Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, daily camp activities, and any concerns.
- Camp Support:
Assist with camp activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
A degree in Music Education, Elementary Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
Previous experience teaching music to young children (K-5) in a classroom or camp setting is highly desired.
- Skills:
Strong knowledge of music fundamentals, vocal and instrumental instruction (e.g., keyboard, drums, guitar, etc.), and child development.
Ability to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Personal Attributes:
Energetic, creative, and patient.
Passionate about teaching music and inspiring young learners.
Able to work collaboratively with other camp staff.
Working Conditions:
- Schedule: Part-time during summer camp dates. Specific hours may vary based on camp schedule.
- Environment: Outdoor and indoor activities. Must be able to engage with children in a variety of settings.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to participate in activities, help set up and break down for camps, and assist students with musical instruments.
