Summary
Installs and repairs electromechanical machine tool accessories at various remote sites to eliminate future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installs and repairs new or modified machine tool equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
- Inspects malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment for defects and malfunctions.
- Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
- Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs replacement parts.
- Provides on-site and telephone technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Tests electrical circuits for voltage, current and short or open circuits.
- Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
- Conducts operational, maintenance, and safety training during product install on the operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
- Documents installation and repair of equipment.
- Documents telephone conversations on troubleshooting for future reference.
- Remains current with new and existing product information, including installation procedures, and participates in available training programs.
- Responsible for returning any warranty parts delivered to his care, properly identified as required by the established procedure of the Customer Service Department.
- Effectively assists in warehouse and shop duties as determined by the Senior Customer Support Technician/Service, or Nat?l. Product Manager, Steady Rests & Chucks.
- Responsible for care and upkeep of individual and company tools and equipment.
- Presents the desired image of the company both internally and externally through proper dress and demeanor.
- Diligent in remaining cost effective on travel arrangements and accommodations.
- Performs other such duties required to maintain the established standards of performance as determined by the Senior Customer Support Technician/Service, or Nat?l. Product Manager, Steady Rests & Chucks.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to travel 80% to 100% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
