Summary The Plant Controller directs the financial activities of a manufacturing site by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Establishes and maintains the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
- Maintains cost accounting review and standard cost setting and analysis.
- Provides financial support to operational leaders at the site.
- Maintains G/L account analysis and reviews analysis prepared by others.
- Maintains a strong internal control environment, enhancing and adding controls where appropriate.
- Oversees and participates in operational accounting functions such as A/P, A/R, and Payroll.
- Ensures a smooth, accurate, and efficient month-end and year-end close.
- Prepares and distributes monthly financials and provides management with a timely review of the organization's progress in its various programs and activities.
- Directs preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Prepares information for external auditors on an annual basis.
- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies and group management.
- Contributes to continuous improvement process, including participation in special projects as needed.
- Safeguards company assets and cash management.
- Trains and manages accounting department employees, including planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department. Supervisory responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA/CMA or MBA preferred
- Minimum 3 - 5 year's experience in public accounting, accounting management, or equivalent experience
- Management experience preferred
