Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform journal entries and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to verify the accuracy of account balances.
- Interpret financial reports to provide insights into business performance and support management decisions.
- Assist with tax preparation and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Employ Excel for data analysis, reporting, and creating financial models.
- Mentor junior staff members in accounting practices and procedures to foster professional development within the team.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement in financial performance.
- Collaborate with public accounting firms during audits to provide necessary documentation and support.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within a public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits as well as general accounting principles.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting are essential.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail for accurate financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.
- Experience mentoring or training others is a plus, contributing to a collaborative work environment.
