Job Summary: We are seeking skilled and experienced Journeyman Electricians to join our team. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes. You will work independently or as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient electrical operations in various commercial, institutional, and industrial settings.
Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain electrical systems: Perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, circuit breakers, switches, outlets, and other electrical components.
- Read blueprints and technical diagrams: Interpret and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the layout and specifications of electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes: Adhere to local, state, and national electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards while performing all electrical work.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues: Identify electrical problems using various testing devices, diagnose the root cause of malfunctions, and carry out effective repairs to restore functionality.
- Conduct electrical inspections: Inspect electrical systems, components, and equipment to identify potential hazards or areas requiring maintenance or upgrades.
- Collaborate with team members: Coordinate and collaborate with other electricians, contractors, engineers, and project managers to complete electrical projects on time and within budget.
- Provide guidance and mentorship: Offer guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior electricians, providing them with training and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Maintain documentation and records: Keep accurate records of all electrical work performed, including maintenance schedules, repair logs, and equipment inventories.
- Stay updated on industry advancements: Continuously update knowledge of new electrical technologies, regulations, and safety procedures to ensure adherence to industry best practices.
- Ensure safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program is encouraged
- Five plus years proven experience as a journeyman electrician, preferably in commercial, institutional, or industrial settings.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- Low voltage/systems experience is a plus. Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, Multi-Media, Structured Cabling, Fiber Optics, etc.
