Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage daily on-site operations for smaller utility-scale solar projects (1-2 MW), ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Manage subcontractors : Coordinate and supervise their work to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Problem-solving on-site : Quickly address and resolve construction challenges (weather delays, equipment issues, etc.) with practical, real-time solutions.
- Safety & compliance : Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
- Quality Control : Oversee installations to ensure work meets technical specifications, industry standards, and passes all necessary inspections (including NYSERDA’s).
- Schedule management : Develop and maintain construction schedules, adjusting to changes as necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Budget management : Track and control construction costs to ensure adherence to project budgets.
- Coordination with internal teams : Collaborate closely with project developers, engineers, procurement, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Site inspections : Conduct regular inspections to assess progress, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Report and documentation : Provide daily updates to senior management on project status, including challenges, solutions, and milestones.
- Commissioning support : Lead final inspections and commissioning processes to ensure projects are fully operational and meet all permit and regulatory requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in utility-scale solar construction, with at least 2 years focused on smaller 1-2 MW projects.
- Hands-on field experience : Proven ability to actively manage on-site operations and oversee the construction of solar PV systems.
- Leadership : Demonstrated success in managing and coordinating subcontractors, ensuring quality and safety on-site.
- Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, balance of systems (BOS), inverters, transformers, and electrical components.
- Problem-solving ability : Proactive in identifying challenges and quickly implementing solutions to minimize delays and budget impacts.
- Safety & Compliance : Familiarity with OSHA, safety standards, and construction codes specific to solar projects.
