What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mammography Technologist position at Local Diagnostic Imaging Center?
We currently have an exciting Full Time or Part-Time role available for a qualified Mammography Technician to work with us in ensuring the patients are of the utmost importance. Operating our new Sensory Suite Mammography, not only will you be conducting the breast exam, but you will also offer a complete interactive experience.
What YOU will be doing:
- Greet patients by confirming patient identification; reviewing imaging request; checking for special instructions; confirming anticipated services with patients.
- Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures; explaining equipment; answering questions.
- Conduct mammography study by positioning breasts; adjusting compression mechanisms; instructing patient to hold breath; retreating to lead protected area; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors; activating equipment to take image; releasing compression mechanisms; preparing for next positioning and view.
- Minimize radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques; using beam restrictive devices; applying knowledge of exposure factors.
- Maintain production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures; developing mammograms; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as required; forwarding completed studies to radiologist for interpretation.
- Keep mammography supplies and patient drapes ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt;
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with state legal regulations and Accredited College of Radiology on (ACR) requirements.
- Document patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting;
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
What YOU will possess:
- Graduate of a two-year program an American Medical Association approved school of Radiology Technology with at least one to two years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
- CRT license by the state of Florida HRS Dept. of Radiation Control.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- ARRT advanced certificate in mammography and BLS-CPR required
- 2-3 years of mammography experience.
- Must be able to maintain and perform QC, ACR and maintain FDA/MQSA.
- Knowledgeable with GE equipment as well as digital mammography (preferred but not essential).
- Enthusiasm and the joy of working with various groups of people.
- Bilingual is a PLUS!!
- Must have experience with GE Mammography equipment
