We are a boutique estate planning law firm located in Downtown Houston in need of a fantastic paralegal with estate planning experience to join our team and work to support our clients. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal handholding. This full-time position will be expected to work in the office during business hours, ideally 8:30-5:30.

We are a tech-forward firm so you should be comfortable with learning new software, playing with the latest apps, and be able to solve basic tech problems yourself. If you're scared or simply not a fan of new tech, this position is probably not the best for you.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the face of our firm for new and existing clients
- Assist in drafting legal documents for estate planning, probate and business law clients by using specialized drafting software or customizing document templates
- Prepare and make legal filings with the Texas Secretary of State, local county court clerks, and other similar institutions
- Prepare correspondence to clients, courts, clerks, and other parties
- E-file documents with the county courts
- Recording of deeds with real property records
- Communicate with attorneys, clients, and other team members to give updates, collect necessary information, and discuss assigned cases
- Complete daily tasks and assignments independently and in a timely manner to meet all deadlines
- Maintain an organized digital filing system
- Manage calendar, schedule hearings, and coordinate with court personnel
- Update the firm’s databases, reports, or spreadsheets to track case status and other important information
- Help us continue to develop our internal systems, processes and procedures, and share insight into how they can be improved
- Be comfortable with change and have the ability to adapt as needed
- Notarize and/or serve as witness in signings
- Clerical tasks: answering phones, making copies, handling mail, and calendar scheduling
Qualifications:
- Great verbal and written communication skills
- At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm setting
- Experience with estate planning required; probate law experience a plus
- Experience using legal drafting software, such as HotDocs is strongly preferred
- Proficient in use of Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat
- Comfortable working with web-based applications for case management, lead tracking, email, etc.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Available to work full-time in the office
- Great interpersonal and customer service skills
- Reliable and able to follow established office procedures
- Enjoys working in a collaborative environment
- Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies and/or equivalent experience preferred
- Notary is a plus
- Spanish speaking a plus
