Position Description

LISC is seeking a highly organized Director of Resource Development. This is a key role within the national development team with responsibility for developing, cultivating, and managing a portfolio of funder relationships. The position will primarily focus on foundation funding partnerships that help diversify LISC's funder base, though candidate must be adaptable to include corporate and individual donors as needed. The function includes overseeing the development and production of high-quality funder and grant proposals, concepts and other materials contributing to the department's fundraising goals. The Director will be analytical, creative, highly organized and collaborate well with a growing staff. They will have a strong history of raising significant grants from foundations, corporations, and individuals, and managing people and systems.

Responsibilities

The following are an indication of the position's core responsibilities; these are intended to illustrate the scope of responsibilities and are not exclusive of other duties that may be required.

* Serve as principal liaison to a portfolio of funders; source, cultivate, and steward new and existing donors.

* In coordination with department's leadership team, develop and implement new fundraising initiatives that lead to expanding the number of funders to LISC.

* Oversee the production of fundraising concept, pitches, and proposals.

* Advise on strategic priorities, annual budget, and implementation plan.

* Manage and help grow a team of development professionals, delegate appropriately and ensure strong internal communication and coordination.

* Oversee tracking of proposal deadlines, ensure that all submitted materials are accurate and comply with any funder requirements.

* Represent LISC appropriately as required at funder conventions, events, conferences, and stewardship meetings.

* Stay abreast of philanthropic trends and ensure that staff and leadership is informed of trends and initiatives that might impact giving.

* Mentor staff on the development team to foster growth, including establishing project or work goals in a collaborative manner to ensure that team members have responsibility and ownership for successful outcomes, and proactively providing stretch opportunities to enhance their skills.

* Lead a workplace characterized by mutual respect and open discussion in which all strive for excellence and innovation, including facilitating clear, transparent communication within the departments and throughout LISC.

* Position may require travel for funder conferences and meetings.

* Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, business administration, marketing or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.

- Minimum 8 years' experience in fundraising, sales, or nonprofit leadership required.

- Public Speaking Experience, demonstrated expertise in public speaking, delivering engaging and informative presentations to diverse audiences, enhancing communication and leadership skills.

- Relationship building, cultivate and sustain strong relationships with donors through regular communication, impact reports, and personalized engagement strategies.

- Proven track record in developing and executing successful long-term strategic fundraising plans, particularly with major gifts and institutional partnerships.

- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in philanthropy, fundraising, and prospect research.

- Strategic Planning, ability to develop and implement strategic plans and projects for resource development.

- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment.

- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) or Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy preferred.

Compensation

LISC offers a competitive salary ($115,600-$144,500) commensurate with experience and location and an excellent benefits package.
