Certified Medical Assistant

Job summary

Candidate must be fully vaccinated or willing to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

Performs clinical and administrative duties including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may full utilize and benefit from the clinical services provided.

Essential job functions

• Prepare patients for exam and treatment to include but not limited to; history, chief complaint, reconcile medications, take and record vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, and pulse
• Responsible for documenting information conveyed by the patient throughout the exam into the EMR.
• Assist providers in exam rooms
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of EMR with computer literacy and proficiency.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices.
• Give instructions to patients as instructed by provider
• Contact patients regarding test results and PA information
• Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
• Prepares, cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms daily and completes sterilization process as required
• Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment.
• Completes the delivery/transmittal of prescriptions is being completed and responds to medication requests.
• Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
• Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
• Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.).
• Adheres to clinic protocol and guidelines
• Completes other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program,
• Appropriate certification and/or licensure
• Current CPR certification
• Current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis)
• Considerable experience may be accepted in lieu of certificate.

Experience

• Minimum Two (2) years of recent medical assistant experience and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office
• Experience working with a multi-specialty physician office a plus
• Ability to perform X-rays is desired

• Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
• Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
• Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
• Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
• Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
• Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All customers are required to wear a mask and submit to a COVID-19 questionnaire prior to being allowed entrance to facility. Additional cleaning precautions are done as well.
