Tiered Intervention Specialist
2024-2025
Do you have a passion for supporting students and families? The Montgomery County School Board in Southwest Virginia is now accepting applications for a Tiered Intervention Specialist (TIS) position that is available for the 2024-2025 school year.
This role involves offering guidance and support to school administrators and school-based teams in implementing and enhancing the tiered interventions and support processes. The TIS also supports families by working to help remove barriers to student success.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist teams in identifying barriers to success
- Provide attendance and behavior data to assist teams in making informed decisions
- Assist with developing attendance plans and reducing chronic absenteeism
- Support the implementation of functional behavioral assessments and the development of behavior intervention plans
- Promote a culture that emphasizes respect and sensitivity
- Support and problem solve with building administrators around tiered systems of support
- Coordinate with schools to develop transition plans
- Provide direct services to students and classroom teachers to promote positive behaviors through mental health services and individual counseling
- Collaborate with families to determine needed supports for students to help increase success at school
- Collaborate with community partners to connect families with needed resources
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, special education social service related field, or educational related field
- Three or more years of related experience
- Knowledge in counseling and education services, including alcohol, other drugs, and violence prevention
- Knowledge and experience of social service sources in the community
- Possess leadership ability and team building skills
- Good human relation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Well-developed problem solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives
- Possess the ability to implement and incorporate existing protocol, practices and policies into the work environment
SALARY: $52,966.53 - $83,120.04 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
