Job Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the grounds maintenance team, ensuring that outdoor landscapes are maintained to the highest standards. This role is hands-on and requires strong leadership skills to manage staff, allocate resources, and uphold safety and quality guidelines. The Grounds Maintenance Lead serves as the primary point of contact for maintenance projects and assists in planning, scheduling, and executing landscaping and groundskeeping tasks.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Coordination:
- Lead and supervise a team of Grounds Maintenance Technicians, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to quality standards.
- Train and mentor staff on landscaping best practices, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
- Assign daily work tasks, track progress, and provide clear instructions to team members.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
- Act as the primary liaison between the maintenance team, site management, vendors, and contractors.

Grounds Maintenance & Operations:
- Lawn Care & Landscaping: Oversee mowing, edging, trimming, and fertilization of lawns to ensure a well-manicured appearance.
- Plant & Tree Maintenance: Supervise pruning, planting, watering, and removal of damaged or diseased vegetation.
- Irrigation System Management: Ensure proper function, repair, and efficiency of sprinkler and irrigation systems.
- Seasonal Maintenance: Coordinate leaf removal, snow and ice management, and seasonal planting projects.
- Pest & Weed Control: Oversee application of herbicides and pesticides, following environmental and safety guidelines.
- Hardscape & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure pathways, benches, fences, and other outdoor structures are clean and properly maintained.
- Trash & Debris Removal: Maintain clean and safe grounds by ensuring timely removal of litter and debris.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3 -5 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of lawn care, plant care, irrigation systems, and pest control best practices.
- Ability to operate and train others on power tools and heavy grounds maintenance equipment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Physical stamina to work in various outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve grounds maintenance issues efficiently.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to150 pounds.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
- May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holiday work based on seasonal and site needs.

Pay: $26.25 - $28.40 per hour
