Job Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining outdoor landscapes, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and visually appealing. This role requires experience with landscaping, lawn care, irrigation systems, and general maintenance to uphold high environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lawn Care & Landscaping: Mow, trim, edge, and fertilize lawns to maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance.
- Plant & Tree Maintenance: Prune, water, plant, and remove dead vegetation to support the health of trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds.
- Irrigation System Management: Inspect, adjust, and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage.
- Seasonal Maintenance: Handle tasks such as leaf removal, snow and ice management, and seasonal planting to adapt to weather conditions.
- Pest & Weed Control: Apply herbicides, pesticides, and other treatments following safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
- Hardscape & Equipment Maintenance: Clean and repair pathways, fences, benches, and other outdoor structures.
- Trash & Debris Removal: Ensure grounds remain clean and free of litter, fallen leaves, and other debris.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to workplace safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of chemicals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field.
- Knowledge of lawn care equipment, irrigation systems, and horticultural best practices.
- Ability to operate power tools and grounds maintenance machinery safely.
- Physical stamina to work in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather.
- Understanding of safety procedures related to grounds maintenance and chemical handling.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team setting.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift heavy objects up to 150 pounds.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
- May require working early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on seasonal needs.
