In this position, the candidate will:
- Prepare value finding appraisals and appraisal reports for state and local agency transportation projects and utility corridor projects in accordance with local agency and state DOT policies and procedures.
- Assist Senior Appraisers with preparation of complex appraisal reports and conducts research of property sales at court houses and through multiple listing sources.
- Assist with property inspections and gathers of market data.
- Perform computations for valuation of properties and provides quality assurance checks of appraisal reports for other appraisers.
- Provide expert witness property valuation court testimony for eminent domain proceedings.
- Assist with business development efforts.
- Coordinate with other appraisal staff on appraisal projects.
- Apply accepted appraisal standards and practices in the preparation of appraisal reports.
- Manage appraisal assignments under the guidance of senior staff ensuring timely completion of appraisals.
- Maintain a personal log of the time spent on appraisals and completes appraisal courses required to qualify for the Certified General Real Estate appraiser exam.
- May perform other duties as required.
Qualifications for this role:
- Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, or Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser with the ability and willingness to pursue the Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license.
- Ability to obtain appraisal licenses in Illinois and Missouri
- 5 years of relevant appraisal experience with at least 1 year of land acquisition experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of relevant appraisal and land acquisition standards and practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of mapping and photography software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well individual and in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
