Your Impact:

• Establishes design criteria for assigned phase of a project requiring the application of basic engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures.
• Prepares detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge. Assignments regularly include determining material needs and performing necessary calculations using accepted formulas and references.
• Provides lower-level design/drafting personnel with design sketches for preparation of finished design drawings, general layouts, and guidance in refining technical requirements.
• Checks work assigned to lower-level design/drafting personnel.
• Regularly interfaces with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers to support project production.

Who you are:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
• EIT is required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) is highly preferred
• 6 years of transportation design experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT design manuals, transportation design, and plan preparation.
• CADD and or drafting experience is required
• Experience in roadway design and related tasks on transportation projects.
• Experience using engineering software such as: MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, Civil3D
• Experience modeling roadway design with OpenRoads is a plus.
• Utility relocation and drainage design experience is a plus.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
