Lochner is seeking a highly skilled Communications Design Engineer. The role involves leading the design of communication systems for transit and rail projects. Responsibilities include implementing rail communications systems design requirements by collaborating with the client and multidisciplinary teams; and leading a team of junior engineers, designers and CAD personnel to produce detailed drawings, specifications, reports and cost estimates.

This results-driven Senior Communications Designer will support projects in the West and nationwide providing systems engineering support for a variety of Capital, state-of-good repair projects for Rail transit, Bus rapid transit, Airport, and other regional clients.  

Your impact:

• The Communications Designer will have design, engineering, and management experience on large-scale rail/transit infrastructure projects.
• Specific experience in Communications and Controls and working knowledge of rail systems and operations is highly desirable, along with a good understanding of rail operations and transit agencies. 
• This is a “forward-looking” position where the candidate will be expected to plan, anticipate project conditions, make projections, and deliver accordingly. 

Who you are:

• 10 years of experience developing requirements and designing elements for rail communications.
• Experience with high-speed IP networks, SCADA systems, cabling systems, public address systems, variable message sign systems, radio systems, emergency ventilation systems, building management systems, telephone networks, tunnel control systems, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, Radio Communications. 
• Experience working with other engineers, designers, and CAD personnel in the creation of specifications, calculations, drawings, and reports for the implementation of transit communication systems. Experience cultivating a strong rapport with clients, project stakeholders, partner companies, and other disciplines and consultants. 
• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• PE is preferred. 
• Work Requirements: Remote work with travel to site visits is possible.

The salary range for this position is between $170,00K and $210,000K per annum, based on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment
