Position Summary Information
Position Purpose
The incumbent performs skilled work at the journeyman level in several trades. Duties involve the performance of various skilled and semi-skilled tasks repairing and maintaining machinery, buildings and equipment. Perform work in conjunction with the Preventative Maintenance program. Work is done weekly, monthly, semi-annually and annually from a computerized work order system. Incumbent assists in other trades areas.

Description of Duties
- Effectively maintain university buildings including floor tile and carpet replacement, painting, roofing, light electrical, plumbing, railings, stairs, doors and operating hardware, curtains, blinds, emergency systems, carpentry, wood working and drop ceilings.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building support equipment following established procedures and guidelines. Make necessary repairs as determined during PM process.
- Repair light fixtures, replace bulbs, ballast, outlets and switches. Repair miscellaneous equipment such as pool cleaners, floor fans, floor carts, basketball backstops, electric curtains, batting cages, weightlifting equipment, and other types of equipment. Install new equipment as necessary.
- Perform repairs and Preventative maintenance on building equipment such as air-handlers and air compressors including control components and operating parts. Replace filters in air-handlers, replace electric motors when necessary, replace belts and bearings; and grease and oil equipment, as required. Track repairs and PM through use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Maintain/replace restroom fixtures and plumbing. Complete maintenance work orders and clean all areas when work is completed.
- Repair masonry and concrete work in and around buildings and walkways. Drive state vehicles to and from various worksites.
- Participate in education and training courses as requested. Respond to emergency call ins that may cause an adverse effect on the University.

Minimum Requirements Profile
Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1;
OR
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades;

any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
