What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3rd Shift Mill Support Technician position at Lock Joint Tube LLC?
SUMMARY
Provide mill support by collecting tube samples by coil number, preparing tube samples for macro etch evaluation, evaluating macro etch quality analysis, and reporting feedback to mill crew. Logging and documenting macro etch images. Communicating findings with mill crews and provide guidance for necessary adjustments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reports daily to NDT Manager.
- Monitoring schedule for critical product list.
- Collecting tube samples and maintaining product and coil traceability as provided from tube mill personnel.
- Safe handling of cut tube samples.
- Performing deburring of samples in a safe manner.
- Sectioning macro sample and performing safe deburring practices.
- Safely grind and polish deburred tube ring in accordance to procedure.
- Perform etching and final preparation for macro etch analysis.
- Conduct analysis of finished macro etch sample with magnification.
- Capture macro etch weld image and document with full traceability and quality rating.
- Assist mill production with the interpretation of results and/or provide guidance to necessary adjustments.
- Assist in other special project work as directed by NDT Manager.
- All procedural responsibilities/tasks for Mill Support Technician will be taught during training. Previous experience is not a requirement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. No experience is required. Training will be on the job.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions to practical situations. Basic knowledge of statistics. Basic knowledge of angular relations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
