Barista/Retail Associate

Locke Store, a leader in the local food movement, is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to join our retail team. The Barista & Retail Associate works with the Front of House team to provide excellent customer service to patrons and maintain the presentation and stock of the sales floor, with a focus on preparing and serving espresso drinks at our coffee bar. Our ideal team member is friendly, detail-oriented, self-motivated, dependable, and above all else, enthusiastic about food!

Key Responsibilities:

• Interacting with customers to provide professional and warm customer service
• Preparing and serving espresso drinks and drip coffee
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar
• Operating the register
• Stocking product shelves
• Learning and promoting store products and events
• Collaboration with coworkers to improve store performance
• Maintaining sales displays
• Adhering to health and safety standards
• Cross training at the deli and register and working in those areas when needed
• Participating in training, meetings, and new product development
• Assisting with product inventory
• Other relevant duties as assigned

Key Qualifications:

• Prior barista experience of at least one year
• Weekend and early morning availability required
• Ability to self-manage & multi-task
• A sense of urgency in your work
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others

Physical Requirements:

The Barista & Retail Associate must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodations. This position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as regular speaking, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and pushing and pulling with arms. This position may occasionally use sharp kitchen tools, such as knives, and requires fine motor dexterity while operating machinery such as the espresso machine and point-of-sale system.
