Position Objective:
The Lever Leader is a highly effective teacher who spends 50% of their time delivering quality instruction in their own classroom and spends 50% engaging in leadership responsibilities (Each campus will determine what the responsibilities will look like based on campus needs). The Lever Leader is charged with supporting the campus initiatives and assisting the campus to reach its goals for successful student outcomes.

Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

Demonstrated strong leadership skills shown by taking initiative and willingness to lead

General Responsibilities
(Potential responsibilities are subject to campus needs)


Leading team of teachers

1. Supervises a set of teachers (Evaluation of teachers will be phased in year two)
2. Provides 1-on-1 support, through regular cycles of observation and coaching
3. Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
4. Facilitates collaborative time with team of teachers
5. Diagnoses team and student needs, using available data from student assessments and observations
6. Establish clear expectations, processes, and objectives for collaborative time that align with team, school and district goals
7. Models lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis
8. Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools and information to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
9. Attends SPED, 504, RTI and/or LPAC meetings applicable to their relevant group.


Campus leadership support

10. Participates on a school wide instructional leadership team
11. Assists principal, when appropriate, with hiring personnel
12. Provides input on the overall management of the teachers on their teams to support school leadership in talent management decisions
13. Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to foster a strong, intentional and inclusive school culture
14. Assists with campus testing including but not limited to Benchmarks/Checkpoints, STAAR, and TELPAS.
15. Leading PLC meetings


Instructional Strategies

16. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
17. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
18. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
19. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
20. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
21. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
22. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
23. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
24. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.


Student Growth and Development

25. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
26. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
27. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
28. Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.


Classroom Management and Organization

29. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
30. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
31. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
32. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.


Communication

33. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
34. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
35. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.


Professional Growth and Development

36.Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
37. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
38. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
39. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
