Description
You will be the Mechanical Test Engineer for the E&T Labs department, a hands-on, hardware-focused team responsible for mechanical testing and evaluating of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts, and assemblies. Our team supports internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.

As the Mechanical Test Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting mechanical tests and evaluations of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts, and production parts, and reporting the results to customers. You will work closely with test requesters to verify and evaluate tasks and develop new testing methods and standard processes as needed.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

- Scheduling, de-conflicting, coordinating, and executing multiple technical activities concurrently
- Designing test fixtures and equipment to enable various mechanical test and/or sample configurations
- Analyzing and reporting mechanical test data

Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a BS in Engineering or related Sciences and 2 years of related experience with hands-on testing and evaluation of hardware.
- Demonstrated proficiency with the calibration and safe operation of universal mechanical testing equipment, and proficiency with analysis of mechanical test data.
- Working knowledge of ASTM specifications for mechanical testing of materials including tensile, shear, torsion, and compression testing.
- Demonstrated experience with developing and documenting new standard laboratory processes independently.
- Proficient in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite centered environment
- BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with 3 years experience, or MS with 2 years in above degrees, with emphasis on mechanical testing of materials.
- Experience with Instron universal testing equipment and Bluehill 3 software package.
- Able to correctly interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) standards.
- Demonstrated experience scheduling, de-conflicting, coordinating and executing multiple technical activities concurrently.
- Current DoD Secret clearance.
