Responsibilities
We are seeking a Public Works Intern to support our team in the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects, including roadways, sewer systems, water supply, drainage, and parks. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to apply engineering principles, collaborate with experienced professionals, and gain practical experience in civil engineering. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in contributing to impactful public infrastructure projects.
- Assist in the planning and design of civil engineering projects related to transportation, water, sewer, drainage, and parks under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret project data, including environmental impact assessments, material testing, and survey results.
- Utilize AutoCAD or similar design software to create and modify engineering drawings and schematics.
- Participate in site visits and field inspections, assisting with surveying, measurements, and construction monitoring.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, reports, and progress updates.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including architects, surveyors, contractors, and clients, to ensure project objectives are met.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and best practices and apply this knowledge to ongoing projects.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Environmental, Mechanical, or Biological & Agricultural Engineering) from an ABET accredited four-year college or university.
- Strong academic performance in engineering coursework.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive work ethic.
- Interest or experience in public works projects (e.g., water, sewer, roadways, parks, and drainage systems).

This internship is designed to provide an in-person experience, offering valuable opportunities to build connections with your team, fellow interns, and other professionals. Interns are expected to work on-site each day for the duration of the program. Please note that relocation or housing assistance will not be provided for this internship.
