Project Engineer
General Description
The Project Engineer will focus on all outgoing deliverables, submittals, drawings, RFIs, change orders, correspondence and supplemental agreements for review/approval to the client. The Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager (PM). The ideal candidate will perform the tasks described below independently and with minimal guidance from the PM.
Relationship
The Project Engineer is accountable to the Project Manager/Executive in all matters concerning the project(s) operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Use ProCore plan room to facilitate real-time, cloud-based collaboration by managing access, marking-up, editing and hyperlinking construction documents.
- Work with Superintendent to direct the building process on site and to maintain construction schedule.
- Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in tracking and updating Change Events, and RFP’s on Procore.
- Assist in schedule sequencing, tracking, and updating.
- Propose schedule management ideas to the Project Manager to make sure that job is completed on or ahead of schedule.
- Manage submittal process including mock-ups and closeout documents/requirements.
- Assist with job progression documentation (2-4 week look ahead).
- Work with Project Manager and Superintendent to schedule and confirm subcontractor start dates.
- Utilze Procore to upload and write RFI’s and review, upload, track and updatesubcontractor RFI’s.
- Post RFI’s and other approved changes to project drawings.
- Responsible for material tracking and on-time delivery assurance.
- Job site documentation management. Responsible for making sure all contracts/submittals, etc. are on site.
- Track and monitor field reports, compile monthly packets for draw meetings
- Facilitate and attend meetings that are relevant to the successful completion of the job (e.g., progress meetings, zoning meetings, and/or MIOSHA/OSHA).
- Manage, update and distribute weekly site coordination meeting minutes on Procore
- Preparation of meeting minutes, agendas, and other documents as instructed.
- Assist Project Managers with preconstruction processes.
- Conduct site Safety Training for new stie staff and conduct weekly job site safety reviews and hazard analysis.
- Analyze material needs and purchase any necessary job site supplies.
- Act in place of Superintendent when necessary such as weekends or evening shifts.
- Maintenance of job site construction trailer, making sure it is stocked with supplies and clean.
- Assist with Projects Development and Management team on punch-lists.
- Manage the permitting and inspection process as directed by Superintendent and/or Project Manager.
- Document all actions taken and decisions made during the course of a project to build an accurate project history and for future reference.
- Assist PM in scheduling meetings with subcontractors to discuss and review projects progress, discuss problems, and resolve issues as necessary.
- Ensures that all documents required for project close-out are submitted by the Sub Contractor at the conclusion of each construction project.
- Be a leader in open communication with team members. Promote good relations with all parties.
- Collect warranty information and compile warranty manual for project close out.
- Maintain clear lines of communication.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Associates Degree in A/E/C field. Relative experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore and MS Projects is highly desired.
- Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and able to prioritize duties to meet assigned deadlines.
- Must be a team player and assist the project teams with work when they are busy.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work well within a deadline driven environment and be willing to work evenings and/or weekends if needed to complete projects.
License Requirements
Valid State Issued Driver License.
Other Requirements
Provide means of commuting between project locations and offices.
Physical Demands
- Ability to maneuver in and around a construction site including climbing ladders and temporary stairs.
- Ability to work in an environment which at times will be muddy, dusty and noisy.
- Ability to lift items of different sizes and configurations weighing up to 50 pounds.
Mental Functions
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to address and work on unanticipated challenges or changes in the work in progress.
Work Environment
Varies and included working in an office setting and on an active construction site within a temporary construction office or trailer.
