The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Permanent Substitute Teacher - Elementary to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The substitute teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.
Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.
Assess student progress and maintain updated records regularly. Provide any progress reports, and updates to parents as needed. Adapt teaching and instructional methods as needed.
Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.

$175 per day
