What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator Material Handler position at LOD Staffing?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Forklift Operator / Material Handler to join our team. This role is critical to our warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Operate forklifts (stand-up experience required) and other warehouse equipment (electric & manual pallet jack) safely and efficiently to move, load, unload, and store materials.
Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper documentation and secure placement of goods.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including hallways, coolers, docks, and production areas.
Keep product organized and storage areas orderly, maximizing space utilization and accessibility.
Perform daily pre-inspection checks on forklift and other equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety hazards.
Recharge electric vehicles daily, ensuring they are ready for use.
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, such as receiving, stocking, and inventory control.
Maintain accurate records of materials handled and locations.
Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements :

Ability to work in a wet environment with temperatures as low as 34-38 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, 40 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.

Physical demands include constant standing and frequent walking throughout the entire work shift.

Constant reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting, applying pressure, grasping, and loading machinery in a repetitive motion.

Constant fingering, fine manipulation, picking, and grasping.

Repetitive hand movements, including simple and power grasping, pushing, and pulling.

Ability to maintain productivity requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and / or written instructions.

Ability to remember and communicate routine information.

Ability to organize thoughts and ideas.

Ability to apply common sense and make decisions.

Ability to understand and follow instructions and guidelines.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to count accurately.

Ability to hear for safety and awareness.

Must be able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.

Other Requirements :

Background screening is required.

Must be able to work flexible hours and days, including overtime, depending on operational demands.

Must be willing and able to perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods in a cold, wet environment.

The employee frequently uses hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 40 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
