An Optometric Technician is a valuable asset in our clinic as they assist in providing excellent patient care to our patients during their visits. An ideal optometric technician is able to handle a wide range of duties while using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with our optometrist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)

Display a professional attitude

Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA

Operation and maintenance of all pretesting equipment including but not limited to:

  • Lensometer
  • Auto-refractor / keratometer
  • iCare tonometer
  • Retinal camera
  • Automated visual field perimeter
  • Optical Coherence Tomography
  • Visual acuity testing
  • Optos Daytona
  • Macula pigment optical density

Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications

Stocking and maintenance of all exam rooms

Competencies:

Communication skills - Our technician must be able to effectively communicate with patients and the providers

Technical abilities - Accurately measure and record results of workup with a strong attention to detail

Pace of the environment - Must be able to work at a fast pace, effectively handling multiple tasks and patients at one time

Team player - work well within the team environment, supporting all aspects of the practice and delivering on patient experience

Other Skills and Abilities:

Desire to gain industry knowledge and training

Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals

Ability to grow, adapt and accept change

Consistently creating a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused

Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
