Description
As a registered nurse for a residential treatment facility, you will be responsible for patient centered care and ensuring the safety & well-being of each resident. Distributing medication and ensuring the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for residents
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding healthcare in an assisted living facility
- Work with other departments within the facility to ensure seamless and efficient care for residents
- Monitor and manage inventory for medical supplies and equipment
- Act as a liaison between residents, families and healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records for residents
- Associates of Science in Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse license for the state of Utah
- Basic life support certification (BLS)
- NCI Non Crisis Intervention training will be provided
- Valid drivers license
- Performs nursing assessments and evaluations on all clients upon admission.
- Examines clients when presenting with health issues to ensure proper and prompt medical care.
- Coordinates medical and dental interventions by scheduling and monitoring office visits.
- Communicates with families concerning medication changes, health issues, and medical treatment.
- Obtains necessary consents when appropriate.
- Coordinates medication acquisition, storage, and administration in compliance with laws and regulatory standards.
- Orders are emailed to parents in a timely manner, implemented correctly, and all paperwork appropriately updated.
- Have a reasonable understanding of the medications, what they are used for, possible side effects, and anticipated benefits (including time frames to see those benefits).
- Encourages clients to be compliant with their medication regimens, be aware of potential side effects without giving clients reasons to believe that they may/will experience them and not blame medications or give the clients excuses about the medications.
- If potential concerns arise, is discreet in front of the client, and offers to research concern.
- Orders lab work in a timely manner, according to policy, and report results to provider at LRA.
- Anticipates Schedule II prescriptions so that continuity of care is maintained. Close counting/monitoring to maintain honesty
- Properly prepares medication for client's visits and discharges so that continuity of care is maintained.
- Supports the provider at LRA by being prepared for, and attending, medication management and treatment team, and monitoring students day-to-day changes in behavior
- Manages concerns related to medication including insurance, previous providers, pharmacies, parents/guardians, and future providers, hospital admissions
- Build confidence in parents and clients about meds and potential benefits. Answer parental phone calls and emails with appropriate information, including research concerns if needed.
- Coordinates relationships with community-based providers and services.
- Participates in comprehensive treatment by working with the other members of the treatment team.
- Consults with physician and nurse practitioner regularly on client treatment plans.
- Provides in-service training to staff concerning medical and psychiatric nursing issues.
- Attends all necessary meetings.
- Ensures the nurses station and facility are stocked with necessary first-aid and treatment supplies.
- Personally, responds to direct requests or questions from clients or other customers in a timely manner. Listens carefully to clients and customers, probing to clarify their specific needs
- Keeps commitments extended to clients or customers.
- Collaborates with staff in department to continually improve service delivery or Academy operations.
- Demonstrates understanding how position supports the goals of the department and vision of the organization, including how it supports other departments and processes within the organization.
