Job Summary
The Student Experiences Manager is responsible for the coordination, training and management of student internship and externship programs at Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC). This role focuses on guiding and mentoring aspiring professionals across LMC’s diverse teams including veterinary services, research, conservation, education and more, developing learning and professional development goals, and coordinating cross-departmental activities. The Manager will facilitate training, ensure interns meet learning objectives and program requirements, and provide consistent communication and supervision throughout the student experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Core Responsibilities
- Management of year-round veterinary, research, conservation, marketing and education concurrent intern and extern tracks
- Management of the Ocean Scholars Internship program for high school students during out-of- school time sessions
- Assist in the development and facilitation of in-person and online training courses, including the development of student micro-credentials
- Develop weekly learning and professional development goals for interns and externs, ensuring a positive and productive work experience aligned with program objectives and requirements
- Manage weekly communications including but not limited to scheduling, performance feedback and daily assignments
- Manage recruitment and retention strategies, developing new and strengthening existing relationships with higher education early-career development partners with a focus on building diverse talent pipelines to relevant STEM careers
- Develop materials and plan to attend student recruitment events at higher education institutions, online and at community resource centers
- Collaborate with senior staff to coordinate short-term and project-based intern and externship opportunities
- Serve as staff-student liaison to promote cooperative relationships that further intern and extern opportunities
- Prepare and deliver relevant activities, workshops, and learning resources for students
- Proactively evaluate individual and overall program performance on a regular and ongoing basis; use collected data and information to make necessary refinements to the LMC intern and extern programs
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in youth services, coaching or mentoring programs for teens and/or undergraduate students required
- Strong communication and organizational skills; able to work independently and with a team
- Ability to mentor, supervise, and provide constructive feedback to young professionals in high school, undergraduate and graduate programs
- Passion for growing the next generation of ocean conservation and science professionals
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
- Knowledge of environmental conservation, marine science, or related fields is preferred
- Able and enthusiastic to collaborate across departments and create engaging, educational resources for students
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Must pass Level 2 background screening through DCF Clearinghouse
- Prior experience in a similar role strongly preferred

The Clearinghouse provides a single data source administered by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) for background screening results for persons screened for employment or licensure that provide services to children, the elderly and disabled individuals.
Notes
This is a full-time, 1-year term position with an opportunity to renew annually for up to four years of total service. It is our policy that all team members, including newly hired, transferred, and promoted team members, will be carefully monitored and evaluated for an initial introductory 3-month period on the job. After satisfactory completion of the introductory evaluation, such team members will be evaluated on an annual basis.
