Job description: We are looking for an individual to lead the completion and assembly of documentation for the overall control system in connection with the construction of a new testing facility in Des Plaines, IL, with a focus on finalizing the specifications for an emergency safety shutdown system. The work involves collecting input from multiple stakeholders into a master document set, which includes updates to the current Piping & Instrumentation Diagram set and/or site layout, as well as the generation of any new required documentation (such as a complete I/O table or a Controls Logic document).
Some skills and experience that this person should have:
* Familiarity with instrumentation and controls in chemical plants or gas distribution systems
* Familiarity with hydrogen safety, in particular NFPA 70, Article 500 and NFPA 2
* Ability to prepare/edit Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
* Familiarity with preparing I/O lists
* Familiarity with Emergency Safety Shutdown (ESS) systems (control logic, components, theory of operation, etc)
* Ability to interpret HAZOP data and incorporate HAZOP recommendations into an ESS system
* Ability to develop ESS interlock logic diagrams.
Activities and Deliverables expected from this effort may include, but are not necessarily limited to:
* Participation in meetings with stakeholders to define the control system and ESS system
* Investigating options from vendors/manufacturers and making recommendations
* Master document set describing the design, logic, componentry, and specifications for a control system to safeguard the operation of a customer defined hydrogen delivery, storage, and utilization system for research testing needs.
* ESS interlock logic diagrams and I/O lists
* Updates to existing P&ID to integrate ESS system components
