Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor truck scales to weigh cargo entering and leaving the port.
- Accurately record weight data and generate necessary documentation.
- Verify compliance with legal weight limits and port regulations.
- Communicate with truck drivers, port personnel, and security to ensure smooth traffic flow.
- Maintain detailed records of all weighed shipments for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Assist with invoicing and billing by providing weight-related data to the appropriate departments.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance of weighing equipment.
- Ensure the weigh station area remains clean, organized, and safe.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve any driver inquiries or concerns.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Input BOL’s and scale tickets into system and distribute transaction reports to customers.
- Responsible for daily and monthly reporting.
- Coordinate with warehouse operations staff concerning planned loading schedule as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a scale operator, weighmaster, or in logistics/transportation preferred.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in data entry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording weights and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with drivers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Familiarity with port operations, DOT regulations, and weight compliance laws is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and work in an outdoor environment for extended periods.
- Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
