Overview Position Overview : This position is responsible for operating terminal yard trucks and assisting with the loading and discharging of cargo, within the facility. MUST HAVE A , TWIC, HEAVY HAULING EXPERIENCE. THIS IS NOT A OVER THE ROAD POSITION. Experience is required. Qualifications Candidate Requirements : Must have three (3) years driving a mule jockey or tractor trailer driving experience Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to accurately process alpha / numeric Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced work environment Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative. Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound Must be able to work {flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends and Physical Requirements & Working Conditions : The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, twist, The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 The employee is frequently required to talk and The employee is continuously required to sit (while driving), grasp and exercise eye-hand coordination and eye hand-foot coordination and finger dexterity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust Responsibilities Key Responsibilities : Perform pre-shift mechanical inspection of assigned company truck (yard mule) and immediately report any deficiencies. Operate yard truck and ensure cargo is properly secure for transport throughout the t Includes loading & unloading break bulk cargo, containers and steel / pipe, using standard equipment such as flatbed trailers, pipe trailers, open top containers, and moffets. Couple and uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air and electrical lines. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Maintain logs of loads and submit accurate daily shift activity Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and awareness of surroundings {i.e. vehicles, people, equipment, etc.) at all Perform other duties such as general labor, as assigned.
