Position Description: Senior Audio/Visual Technician
Full Time: 40 hours per week
General Duty Description and Responsibilities
Perform installation tasks for audio-visual and low voltage/structured cable projects, including but not limited to cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment and components, rack fabrication/wiring, layout for equipment, and metal fabrication. The AV/LV Technician will be expected to direct installation crews (internal or subcontracted) on large/complex projects and engage in specific system testing by coordinating and reporting progress to the Project Manager, ensuring projects achieve time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction requirements. The ideal candidate would have at least 10 years of experience managing and building AV/VTC operations and have a Secret clearance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following successfully; other duties may be assigned.
- Design and integrate AV and VTC solutions, including projectors, displays, lighting, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing equipment, and control systems.
- Configure and program AV and VTC equipment for optimal performance and user experience.
- Lead and execute installation plans of projects as assigned by Project Management, which may include wire pulling, terminations, rack assembly, fiber terminations, wire management, and equipment mounting.
- Conduct site visits and develop project-based cost estimates that include labor, travel, and the material required to meet the customer requirements.
- Stay up to date with the latest AV and VTC technologies, standards, and best practices.
- Provide work direction to the project installation team.
- Test systems upon completion to ensure systems function properly. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct technical issues on site.
- Assist in the proper training of other technicians.
- Test, train, and instruct customers and fellow internal team members on adequately using equipment and systems.
- Read and interpret construction documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints
- Investigate and resolve open issues with vendor support teams.
- Obtain technical certifications as directed by management to further develop your career.
- Work with Service Hub to assist in resolving escalated service calls may be required.
- Help ensure all projects are done within the defined scope and installed within the predefined budget and customer deadline.
- Provide daily, written updates to Project Management.
- Document and submit final as-build (if needed) for installed solutions.
- Document and fill out weekly timecards and expense reports.
- Travel Conus and OCONUS travel.
- Maintain control over inventory in LSI and technician's possession and ensure proper accounting.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Secret Clearance
- 10 year of experience in AV/LV installation/design
- Expertise in video conferencing technologies like SIP, H.323, RTP, SRTP, codecs (e.g., Tandberg, Polycom, Cisco), video compression standards, and networking fundamentals. Deep knowledge of video protocols, control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron), and QoS.
- Troubleshooting and maintenance skills for AV/VTC equipment, including fault isolation, repairs, replacements, and firmware updates. Ability to resolve operational issues and perform preventive maintenance.
- Understanding of DoD VTC requirements, security controls (DISA STIGs), and information assurance frameworks like DITSCAP/NIST RMF. Experience with IA controls and compliance is essential for secure VTC deployments.
- Training and client consulting abilities to educate end-users on AV/VTC equipment operation and control interfaces. Effective communication and teaching skills are necessary.
- Project management, documentation, and reporting skills for AV/VTC deployments, including site surveys, system design documents, and recurring reports.
- Hands-on experience with construction methods, electrical wiring, cable/fiber installation, and working at heights (ladders, lifts).
- Experience with gathering AV/VTC requirements, developing quote/cost estimates and implementing solutions based on the requirements.
