Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with wounds, including history taking and physical examinations.
- Develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practices.
- Perform wound care procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent infection and promote healing.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management, prevention strategies, and overall health maintenance.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care practices.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in wound care management.
Skills
- Proficient in aseptic technique for wound management.
- Experience or knowledge in senior care is preferred.
- Background in medical-surgical nursing is beneficial.
- Understanding of gastroenterology principles related to wound healing is a plus.
- Competency in coding for medical documentation.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple patients effectively within a busy healthcare setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining excellent communication skills.
