Position Overview:
The Regulatory Technician plays a critical role in supporting regulatory compliance efforts within the oil and gas industry. This position is responsible for preparing, filing, and managing documentation for State, Federal, and Local regulatory agencies while ensuring accurate record-keeping, regulatory adherence, and providing field and administrative support to the Regulatory team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Document Preparation & Filing:
- Prepare and submit required forms, such as APD forms and Sundry notices, to regulatory agencies.
- Compile and submit data to secure approvals for recompletion, plugging and abandonment, and downhole commingling activities.
- Prepare and file workover rig notices of intent and subsequent reports.
2. Data & File Management:
- Maintain well files and organize the submission and approval of permits.
- Manage databases to track internal regulatory compliance, including spud notifications, drilling and completion reports, well status updates, and inactive well tests.
- Receive and process correspondence, selecting and entering pertinent data into appropriate systems.
3. Compliance & Reporting:
- Support the Regulatory team with compliance-related tasks.
- Ensure the timely submission of reports to Federal, State, and Local agencies.
- Stay informed of and ensure compliance with regulations from BLM, NMOCD, and ECMC (formerly COGCC).
4. Collaboration & Support:
- Request and gather data from internal and external sources for reporting and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining the proper storage and organization of regulatory data and reports.
5. Environmental Field Work:
- Conduct field sampling at remote oil and gas locations, applying and continuously developing knowledge of environmental fieldwork and sampling techniques.
- Ensure accurate data collection and proper handling of samples to meet regulatory and project-specific requirements.
- Adhere to safety protocols and environmental guidelines while performing field activities in various conditions.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- At least 1 year of experience in regulatory compliance or a related role.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas industry rules, regulations, and compliance processes.
